InnovateAFITC has become the premiere collaboration competition for Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) and Cybersecurity. This event encourages and promotes a community culture of cyber awareness and collaboration between Government, industry and academia, bringing together community leaders, cyber experts and a cadre of  competitors from local schools to witness and participate in real‐world IT, cyber operations, software development and design methods.

Registration

Industry Groups are $100 while Military and Student Groups are FREE. If you are registering in the industry or student categories, please register your whole group using the link below. The event staff will pair you accordingly and notify you of your additional teammates once registration closes on Aug 14th.

Competition

Student groups will team with military and industry IT professionals to compete in 3 separate events; Application Build and Pitch, Network and Systems Administration and Esports. Each event will be scored separately, prizes will be awarded (1st, 2nd and 3rd) in each event, and an overall winner will be recognized (composite total score of all events).

Application Build and Pitch Presentation

Collaborative teams will create innovative technology solutions for supply chain operations and management, as a result of the daunting task the City of Montgomery and the nation faced due to COVID19. Our city and our nation were faced with delivering education virtually, sourcing and distributing personal protective equipment (PPE), providing testing for the community, and maintaining the hospitality industry.

This is an opportunity for teams to build software applications that drive impact in one of the following areas: education, medical, logistics or hospitality, as all of these areas had their own supply chain and operational obstacles to overcome due to the pandemic.

Stakeholders from the medical, logistics, hospitality and education communities will provide subject matter expertise throughout the competition to assist in solutioning. In addition, an agile SCRUM master and technical experts from market leading data science, robotic process automation and software companies will provide training sessions to prepare you before and during the event.

Each team will provide access to their application, give a short description of the application via a Google Form, and submit a video (not to exceed 3 mins) which includes a working demonstration of their application.

Network and Systems Administration Challenge

Each team will test their skills as both system and network administrators. They will configure multiple firewalls and servers for common resource access in this portion of the challenge.

Esports Event

Each team will select a member to participate in a double elimination SMASH BROS tournament. This tournament will be played using the popular Nintendo Switch gaming system; points will be awarded for wins.

Schedule

On Monday evening, August 17th at 5PM CST we will Kickoff this year’s competition. The rules of engagement will be provided alongwith subject matter experts to detail the problems and competition events.

On Tuesday evening, August 25th at 7PM CST we will present all of the video submissions and the top three submissions will present live for a panel of judges to evaluate. Winners for each event competition and the overall winner will be recognized.
